The Yogic science was developed in the foothills of Himalaya, in India and its subcontinent at least 5000 years ago by the sages’ and seers of that era. Mangalam yoga embraces this years old tradition and incorporates practices which are derived from ancient and traditional sources.

Change is the spontaneous outcome for the practitioners of Yoga. In Yoga as we watch our breath, we become aware of our non-harmonious breathing patterns and tensions held in the body. As we move our body in the Yogic postures while maintaining the awareness of the breathing pattern, physical, mental and emotional tensions releases and we feel better. We begin to notice things that we were unaware of before. Slowly that awareness penetrates into the deeper areas of our lives. We notice many subtle aspects about ourselves, like how we feel when we communicate with others. Perhaps we let go of old patterns of communication because we don’t need them anymore. Or perhaps we let go of old relationships because we finally recognize how damaging they are to our health and well-being. This is how yoga changes us little by little towards wellness & wellbeing.

As we become aware of our deeper nature, the thinking process becomes clearer which directly impacts the way we act. As the thoughts, words and action gets synchronized we start contributing positively to our family, society, and nation and also to the whole world.

Yoga is not just about the postures & breathing practices. It’s not about the body, mind and spirit. It’s so much more than that. Yoga is about reconnecting to our true nature. It’s about acknowledging what is true in this moment - letting go of how we think things should be, how we want things to be. When we acknowledge our human nature with all of our flaws and imperfections, we are open to witnessing the same in others - without judgment. When we change the way we think, we change the way we act. This can transform our lives - our health, our relationships, our workplaces, our world.

We may start practicing Yoga to get into shape, lose weight, reduce stress, feel better, or to get rid of some health issues, but eventually Yoga gives us much more. Yoga changes our life!
